Lamar Jackson Ruled Out vs. Falcons; Tyler Huntley to Start

Lamar Jackson is out against Atlanta with an ankle injury. Tyler Huntley starts, changing the Week 5 outlook for Zay Flowers, Derrick Henry and Ravens DFS.

Lamar Jackson is out for the Baltimore Ravens’ Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, October 11. Head coach Jesse Minter confirmed the ankle injury will keep Jackson sidelined, and Tyler Huntley will start at quarterback. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET in Atlanta.

The Ravens’ announcement settles the quarterback question. The more useful DFS question is how much of Baltimore’s offensive efficiency carries over, particularly for Zay Flowers and Derrick Henry.

Why is Lamar Jackson out?

Jackson injured his ankle against Tennessee in Week 4 and did not play in the second half. He missed practice throughout the week before Baltimore ruled him out. This is a confirmed absence against Atlanta, not a questionable designation that requires waiting until Sunday night.

Huntley takes over an offense that has produced explosive plays without needing huge passing volume. That distinction matters: replacing the quarterback changes more than which name belongs in a lineup.

Tyler Huntley gets the start, but the sample is small

Huntley completed eight of nine passes for 63 yards after replacing Jackson against Tennessee, adding 16 rushing yards. His mobility gives him another way to contribute in fantasy, but nine attempts are not enough to establish a reliable passing expectation for a full game.

We would evaluate Huntley’s rushing opportunities and the offense’s ability to sustain drives separately from Jackson’s production. A backup inheriting the starting job inherits the opportunity, not the starter’s efficiency or ceiling.

For DraftKings Sunday Night Football Showdown, Huntley belongs in the quarterback comparison. He does not automatically belong at Captain simply because Jackson is unavailable. A lineup built around Huntley needs a credible path to him outscoring the game’s top skill players, rather than relying on the quarterback change alone.

Zay Flowers: extraordinary efficiency meets a quarterback change

Flowers entered this week averaging 6.3 yards per route run, according to the Ravens’ four-game statistical review. That is an efficiency measure, not a promise of heavy target volume. Baltimore’s review also notes how often the offense has moved him around the formation to create favorable coverage.

That makes Flowers more interesting than a blanket downgrade, but less straightforward than carrying his recent production into a Huntley start. Designed opportunities could help preserve his involvement. The explosive passing gains that powered his early production are a separate question.

Flowers has also been managing a foot injury. If he is available Sunday, we would consider him in lineups built around Baltimore finding passing success, while being less willing to assume his early-season efficiency survives unchanged.

Derrick Henry: more responsibility does not guarantee more efficiency

Henry has seven rushing touchdowns through four games. The Ravens’ Atlanta preview identifies the Falcons as the league’s top-ranked rushing defense. Those two facts make this more complicated than automatically backing a rushing-yardage over because Jackson is out.

Our interpretation is that Henry could carry more of the offensive burden, but extra responsibility can come with tougher defensive attention and fewer sustained scoring drives. His strongest tournament case is a competitive game in which Baltimore can keep handing him the ball and finish possessions near the goal line.

Ravens-Falcons betting and lineup takeaway

Baltimore also ruled out edge rusher Trey Hendrickson with a finger injury. We would not turn Jackson’s absence into an automatic game-total under while ignoring a separate loss on the Ravens’ defense.

The actionable change is to remove Jackson from Ravens-Falcons lineups and reassess Huntley, Flowers and Henry together. Huntley offers a different quarterback profile, Flowers’ efficiency deserves caution, and Henry’s workload case still needs the offense to stay functional. A quarterback injury is a reason to rebuild the game script, not blindly upgrade every remaining teammate.
