Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand is expected to miss about six weeks after suffering a lower-body injury Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings. Coach Paul Maurice outlined the timetable Friday: roughly three weeks before Marchand returns to skating, followed by approximately three weeks of rehabilitation. The club had feared a more serious outcome after the veteran was helped from the ice.

Florida is already without captain Aleksander Barkov, who is expected to miss roughly six to eight weeks with a separate lower-body injury. Neither estimate is a confirmed return date. The Panthers next play Minnesota at home on Saturday, October 10.

What it means for Florida

The simultaneous absences remove two established offensive contributors from the same lineup. Marchand had recently returned from offseason surgery and was appearing in only his second game of the season when he was hurt. Florida still has dangerous forwards, but Saturday’s actual line combinations and power-play groups matter more than any earlier projected lineup.

NHL DFS impact

In the Panthers’ October 6 projected lineup, Marchand appeared alongside Brady Tkachuk and Sam Reinhart. That is historical context, not a confirmed line for Saturday. Both remain important offensive options to evaluate, while a promotion for Eetu Luostarinen or Sandis Vilmanis could create secondary value if game-day deployment supports it. Carter Verhaeghe, Sam Bennett and Matthew Tkachuk formed another projected group, but their current assignments are not confirmed by that older report.

There is no basis yet to assign Marchand’s shots, minutes or power-play role to one replacement. Watch the final forward combinations, special-teams personnel and starting goalies before making an NHL DFS decision. The CTS NHL Daily Lineups page provides a useful research starting point, but projected lines still require confirmation.
