Jordan Staal Out One to Two Months: Jankowski Moves Into DFS Focus
Jordan Staal faces one to two months out with a calf tear. Mark Jankowski is the role to watch as Carolina adjusts its lineup.

Jordan Staal is expected to miss one to two months with a calf tear, Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said Tuesday. The diagnosis turns the captain’s absence into a longer-term change for the Hurricanes after he missed Sunday’s game in Philadelphia.
Carolina’s October 13 injury update identifies Mark Jankowski as the player who moved into Staal’s place between Nikolaj Ehlers and Jordan Martinook. Brind’Amour cautioned that replacing Staal’s responsibilities will require several players.
DFS impact
Jankowski becomes a role-based player to monitor. More time alongside Ehlers could improve his scoring opportunities if that alignment holds. It does not establish a particular ice-time total, salary value or guaranteed increase in fantasy production.
Carolina’s Tuesday projected lineup retains Ehlers-Jankowski-Martinook and lists Jankowski on the second power-play unit. Those are projected assignments, subject to change.
For tonight’s Washington matchup, check the final lineup and your contest’s player pool before using Carolina skaters. For later slates, monitor whether Jankowski keeps the assignment as the team adjusts. A potential recall has not yet established a new player’s role.
