Green Bay placed running back Chris Brooks on injured reserve Saturday, October 10, following the ankle injury that ended his Week 4 game early. Brooks had already been ruled out of Sunday’s matchup against Chicago. The move requires Brooks to miss at least Green Bay’s next four games; it does not establish a return date.

Green Bay also remains without Josh Jacobs, who is on the commissioner’s exempt list. Sunday’s active list and the Packers’ actual running-back rotation are the next important checkpoints.

How the Packers’ backfield changes

MarShawn Lloyd, Kaleb Johnson and Pierre Strong Jr. are the running backs on Green Bay’s active roster. Green Bay promoted Strong from its practice squad on Thursday, before the Brooks injured-reserve move. In Friday’s injury update, coach Matt LaFleur praised Strong’s readiness without promising a defined role.

Brooks’ absence leaves Green Bay with fewer options for carries, receiving work and pass protection while Jacobs remains unavailable. The division of those responsibilities among Lloyd, Johnson and Strong remains unconfirmed. Saturday’s transaction extends Brooks’ absence; his Week 5 absence was already known Friday.

DraftKings Sunday Main implications

For the October 11 DraftKings Classic Main Slate, Lloyd costs $4,800, Johnson $4,600 and Strong $4,000. Brooks is unavailable despite his $4,100 salary listing. Jacobs also remains unavailable.

If Lloyd leads the rushing work, his price deserves another look; Johnson’s appeal increases if his role expands instead. Strong’s promotion alone does not establish meaningful carries or receiving work. None has a confirmed touch count or goal-line role from this transaction.
