College football best bets for Saturday, September 12, 2026

Saturday, September 12, 2026. Week 2 is one of the easiest weeks on the calendar to overreact. A favorite hangs 50 on an overmatched opener, an underdog looks ugly for three quarters, and suddenly the market moves as if one game told us everything.

That is not how we built this card. We care more about quarterback experience, returning roles, line play, matchup, injuries and the number we are being asked to lay or take. Week 1 matters, but it is one input, not the whole handicap.

The CTS Saturday card

  • Oklahoma-Michigan Under 43.5 (-105)
  • Minnesota -1.5 (-102) vs. Mississippi State
  • Kentucky +10.5 (-110) vs. Alabama
  • Arizona +7.5 (-108) at BYU
  • Georgia Tech +12.5 (-112) vs. Tennessee

Oklahoma-Michigan Under 43.5 (-105)

The obvious Week 1 reaction is Oklahoma offense good, Michigan offense bad. We agree with half of that, but the better bet is the total. Michigan still has enough defensive talent to make Oklahoma work, while the Wolverines’ offensive line and passing game face a much harder test than Western Michigan presented.

Oklahoma does not need to chase tempo if its defense controls the game, and Michigan’s best path is to shorten possessions, lean on the run game and keep Bryce Underwood out of obvious passing downs. A 24-16 type of game works perfectly for us.

CTS play: Under 43.5. Playable to 42.5.

Minnesota -1.5 (-102) vs. Mississippi State

Kamario Taylor’s opener was electric, but this is exactly the kind of Week 2 spot where we refuse to price one box score as a new baseline. Minnesota is a much different defensive assignment, especially at home, and the Gophers have the experience to make Taylor process coverage instead of living on explosives.

The market is basically asking us to pick the winner. We prefer the more established home team and a defense that should force Mississippi State to sustain drives rather than live off Week 1 chaos.

CTS play: Minnesota -1.5. We would still play -2.5.

Kentucky +10.5 (-110) vs. Alabama

Alabama looked the part in a 48-10 opener, but laying double digits on the road is a different test. The Crimson Tide are dealing with offensive-line and receiver absences, while Kentucky comes into SEC play much healthier and got an efficient opener from Kenny Minchey.

We are not calling for an upset. We are betting that Kentucky can make Alabama earn points through four quarters rather than letting one blowout against East Carolina turn into an inflated road number.

CTS play: Kentucky +10.5. We want +10 or better.

Arizona +7.5 (-108) at BYU

BYU’s Week 1 score is going to attract attention, but Arizona is a massive step up from that opponent. Noah Fifita gives the Wildcats a veteran quarterback in a road conference game, and Arizona’s front was excellent against the run in its opener.

BYU can absolutely win behind LJ Martin and its ground game, but more than a touchdown is enough for us. Arizona has the quarterback experience and defensive profile to stay within one possession if it protects the football.

CTS play: Arizona +7.5. Playable at +7.

Georgia Tech +12.5 (-112) vs. Tennessee

Tennessee’s freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon threw five touchdowns in the opener. Georgia Tech scored only 13. Those two results make this spread look easier than it is.

Georgia Tech moved the ball better than the final score suggests against Colorado and now comes home getting nearly two touchdowns. Tennessee is stepping from Furman into its first road test with a freshman quarterback, while the Yellow Jackets have enough run-game answers to keep the Vols from playing a comfortable one-dimensional game.

CTS play: Georgia Tech +12.5. We still like +11.5 or better.

Our +1000 parlay

  • Texas A&M -14.5 (-105) vs. Arizona State
  • Oregon -23.5 (-108) at Oklahoma State
  • Boise State -8.5 (-115) vs. Memphis
  • Kansas State -18.5 (-108) vs. Washington State

At roughly these prices, the four-legger lands in the +1000 to +1200 range depending on the book. It is intentionally separate from our five best bets. The idea is simple: four favorites we expect to control the line of scrimmage against opponents with clear structural questions, rather than recycling the main card into a parlay.

Lines were checked Friday night. College football numbers can move quickly on Saturday morning, so treat a meaningful move as a new bet rather than chasing the old price.
