Philadelphia running back Will Shipley left Sunday’s October 11 game against Jacksonville with a foot injury and did not return, giving the Eagles another uncertainty in a backfield already missing Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby. The team’s postgame report confirmed Shipley’s exit. Philadelphia has not announced that he will miss Week 6.

Barkley was inactive in London because of a hamstring injury, while Bigsby is on injured reserve. The Eagles return home to face Carolina on Sunday, October 18. Shipley’s medical follow-up, Barkley’s practice participation and the next official game-status report are the meaningful checkpoints.

How Philadelphia’s backfield changes

The Eagles had already rebuilt their running back depth before the London trip. Dameon Pierce joined the active roster October 7, followed by Carson Steele on October 9. Both are legitimate options if Philadelphia needs replacements, but the coaches have not established either as the Week 6 starter or assigned a clear passing-down or goal-line role.

Shipley’s absence also matters to special teams. Philadelphia’s postgame review specifically identified the loss of his coverage contribution. A healthy Barkley would change the offensive picture considerably, so Sunday’s emergency backfield should not be treated as a permanent depth chart.

Week 6 DraftKings and betting impact

Pierce is the first potential replacement to reassess if both Barkley and Shipley remain unavailable. He has previous NFL starting experience, while Steele offers another active-roster option who could gain snaps. That is an opportunity case, not a confirmed carry split or a guarantee that either handles receptions or short-yardage work.

If Barkley returns without restrictions, the appeal of a replacement-led backfield drops sharply. If Shipley is cleared, Philadelphia could distribute work across more backs than Sunday suggested. The matchup with Carolina makes the injury report consequential for DFS player selection and offensive betting evaluations, but no Week 6 DraftKings salaries, ownership projections or current betting lines are established here.
