Responsible Gambling
Your wellbeing comes first. Support is available.
Your wellbeing matters more than any slate.
Sports betting and daily fantasy sports should be entertainment, not a way to solve financial problems or recover losses. If gambling is becoming difficult to control, affecting your finances, relationships, work or wellbeing, support is available.
Get help now
In the United States, the National Problem Gambling Helpline is available 24/7. Call or text 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738), or use online chat through the National Council on Problem Gambling.
The helpline connects people affected by gambling-related harm with support, information and local resources. It is not an emergency-service line. If there is an immediate danger or medical emergency, contact emergency services.
Signs it may be time to step away
- Chasing losses or increasing bets to try to get even.
- Spending more money or time gambling than you intended.
- Borrowing money, hiding gambling activity or missing financial obligations.
- Feeling anxious, irritable or preoccupied when you are not gambling.
- Allowing gambling to interfere with relationships, work, school, sleep or health.
Practical boundaries
- Decide what you can afford to lose before you play and do not exceed it.
- Do not chase losses or treat a losing day as a debt that must be recovered.
- Keep gambling separate from essential expenses, savings and borrowed money.
- Take regular breaks and use deposit, wager, time-out or self-exclusion tools when available.
- Never gamble while impaired or when gambling is no longer enjoyable.
Eligibility and local rules
Gambling and fantasy-sports eligibility varies by product and location. Follow the age, identity, geolocation and other requirements that apply where you are. Cover The Slate does not accept wagers and does not control sportsbook or DFS eligibility decisions.
