Texans RB David Montgomery’s Groin Injury Puts Woody Marks in Week 6 Focus
David Montgomery may miss time after a groin injury. Woody Marks could see more work in Houston's October 18 London game against Jacksonville.

Houston Texans running back David Montgomery injured his groin in Sunday’s October 11 game at Tennessee and was ruled out for the remainder of Houston’s 26-3 win. Afterward, coach DeMeco Ryans said Montgomery may miss some time. That is a warning about his potential absence, not an official Week 6 OUT designation or a confirmed recovery timeline.
Houston’s next game is Sunday, October 18 against Jacksonville at Wembley Stadium in London, with kickoff at 9:30 a.m. ET. The Texans’ next injury update and practice participation are the important checkpoints before assigning anyone a Week 6 role.
How the Texans’ backfield changes
Woody Marks took over the leading rushing role after Montgomery exited in the second quarter and remained involved in the passing game. Dare Ogunbowale was also available in Houston’s backfield. That makes Marks the clearest potential beneficiary if Montgomery cannot play next week.
The in-game adjustment does not establish a permanent starting job or guarantee Marks all the carries, receiving work, pass protection or goal-line opportunities. Houston has not announced its London backfield rotation.
Week 6 DraftKings and betting impact
If Montgomery misses the Jaguars game, Marks becomes the first running back to reassess for an expanded offensive role, with Ogunbowale a possible complementary option. A confirmed Montgomery return would weaken the case for treating Marks as a replacement-level workload bargain. Even an active but limited Montgomery could leave meaningful work for Marks, though no such restriction has been announced.
This is a London early game, not the standard Sunday Main Slate. Evaluate Marks using the actual London contest player pool and confirmed personnel rather than carrying over prices or assumptions from Week 5. The same availability check matters before treating any rushing or receiving prop as actionable. We will follow the team updates in our NFL news coverage.
