MLB NRFI/YRFI Picks Today: Best First-Inning Bets for September 19

Saturday gives us a full 15-game MLB board, but we are not forcing a first-inning bet into every matchup. Our September 19 card is built around three verified NRFI prices, with Coors Field as the clearest YRFI game to watch.

Twins at Angels NRFI (-140)

Joe Ryan against Reid Detmers is our favorite pure pitching setup. The full-game total is only 7.0. Detmers brings strikeout upside against a Minnesota offense that has been vulnerable to left-handed pitching, while Ryan faces an Angels offense near the bottom of MLB in run production. We are willing to pay the heavier NRFI price because both halves of the inning have a credible run-prevention path.

Yankees at Diamondbacks NRFI (-130)

Cam Schlittler is the foundation. Arizona has to deal with a high-strikeout right-hander, while New York enters without Aaron Judge, who is on the injured list with a calf strain. Brandon Pfaadt is the risk because Ben Rice and the remaining Yankees can still punish mistakes, but Schlittler gives us a strong chance to erase Arizona’s half of the inning.

Marlins at Padres NRFI (-110)

This is our favorite price. Eury Perez faces San Diego while Casey Mize gets Miami. The Marlins and Padres have each played 90 NRFIs in 154 games this season. Perez has the stuff to miss bats at the top of the Padres order, and Miami has not been an elite power offense. At -110, we do not need the matchup to be perfect.

YRFI watch: Mariners at Rockies

Coors Field is the obvious YRFI environment, but we are not publishing an unverified price. Colorado has only 60 NRFIs in 154 games this season and Seattle has 69. Bryce Miller is scheduled for Seattle. This is the game we want on the YRFI side of the board if the market price remains reasonable.

Other all-day notes

Toronto at Texas has YRFI appeal because the Rangers have produced only 64 NRFIs in 154 games, but Jose Soriano against Cal Quantrill creates enough competing signals that we are staying selective. Atlanta at Houston also has two offenses capable of scoring immediately, but its season first-inning profile is closer to neutral.

San Francisco at Los Angeles is the opposite problem. Tarik Skubal can erase the Giants’ half of the inning by himself, but the Dodgers have enough top-order offense that we do not want to pay a bad NRFI price merely because an ace is pitching.
