Saturday’s 9-game DraftKings MLB slate starts at 1:10 p.m. ET, and the build starts in two places for us: Tyler Glasnow’s strikeout ceiling and a Detroit offense getting one of the cleanest matchups on the board.

Our DraftKings core for Sept. 12

Ceiling SP: Tyler Glasnow, $10,700
Value SP: Andrew Alvarez, $6,800
GPP SP: Michael King, $8,500
Favorite stack: Detroit Tigers
Favorite one-off: Aaron Judge, $6,100
Favorite value: Colt Keith, $3,200

Pitchers

TOP CEILING

Tyler Glasnow, Dodgers, $10,700

Glasnow is the pitcher we trust most when the goal is raw ceiling. He has 70 strikeouts in 57.2 innings this season, a 3.12 ERA and a 10.9 K/9. Opponents have managed just a .529 OPS against him.

Miami is not a free square, but Glasnow does not need a perfect matchup to separate from the field. His strikeout rate gives him multiple paths to a 25-plus DraftKings point game, and the Dodgers should give him a real chance at the win bonus.

BEST VALUE

Andrew Alvarez, Nationals, $6,800

Alvarez is the salary release valve we actually feel good about. He owns a 3.60 ERA with 91 strikeouts in 95 innings, and the underlying profile has been solid: only five home runs allowed all year and a 3.32 FIP.

The Angels are 56-91 and have struggled against left-handed pitching. Alvarez gives us enough strikeout ability to matter without forcing us to punt the position, and the $6,800 tag opens the door to the bats we want.

GPP SP

Michael King, Padres, $8,500

King sits in the sweet spot between the expensive aces and the obvious salary savers. He has a 3.00 ERA with 144 strikeouts across 168 innings, and he has gone at least six innings in each of his last four starts.

The Giants have been better lately, but this is still a lineup we are willing to attack with a pitcher who can work deep into the game. King is our tournament pivot when we want a different roster construction without dropping all the way into the cheap pitching tier.

Favorite stack: Detroit Tigers

Detroit is our favorite stack because the matchup gives us both ceiling and roster flexibility. Tanner Gordon has a 5.40 ERA and 1.43 WHIP, and hitters have produced an .863 OPS against him this season. Left-handed hitters are at .882, right-handed hitters are at .836, so there is no reason to force the stack to one side of the plate.

The Tigers also give us a much friendlier salary curve than the Yankees or Padres. That matters on a slate where Glasnow is $10,700.

  • Kevin McGonigle, $5,200: the premium piece. He combines on-base ability, speed and enough pop to score in multiple ways.
  • Riley Greene, $4,700: our favorite power bat in the stack.
  • Dillon Dingler, $4,500: 26 home runs from a catcher gives this build a real positional edge.
  • Gleyber Torres, $4,100: strong contact and on-base skills at a manageable salary.
  • Colt Keith, $3,200: one of the slate’s best salary-saving ways into the heart of the Detroit offense.
  • Max Clark, $3,000: cheap speed and run-scoring upside that makes the five-man stack easier to finish.

Our preferred construction is McGonigle + Greene + Torres + Keith, then add Dingler or Clark depending on the rest of the lineup.

Best one-off hitters

ONE-OFF

Aaron Judge, Yankees, $6,100

Judge is the cleanest spend-up bat on the slate. Mets left-hander Zac Thornton has allowed an .803 OPS to right-handed hitters and a .920 OPS over the last 28 days. Yankee Stadium plus Judge’s power is the exact kind of one-off ceiling we want.

ONE-OFF

Fernando Tatis Jr., Padres, $6,500

Tatis gets a left-hander in Cesar Perdomo, and his 2026 numbers against lefties are excellent: a .959 OPS with power and stolen-base upside. Perdomo has only 10 major-league innings this season, so we are not letting the 0.90 ERA scare us away from one of the best platoon bats on the slate.

ONE-OFF

Max Muncy, Dodgers, $4,600

Muncy has a .845 OPS with 27 home runs and has been just as productive against right-handed pitching. Tyler Phillips has allowed a .758 OPS to left-handed hitters, which puts Muncy in a strong power spot without forcing us into the very top salary tier.

ONE-OFF

Mookie Betts, Dodgers, $4,900

Betts is simply too cheap for his combination of contact, run production and home-run upside. He has been making impact contact again recently, and the Dodgers enter this matchup as one of the hottest teams in baseball.

Best value hitters

  • Colt Keith, Tigers, $3,200: our favorite pure value. He fits the top stack and keeps the rest of the build open.
  • Max Clark, Tigers, $3,000: another cheap piece of the Detroit stack with speed upside.
  • Dylan Beavers, Orioles, $2,900: coming off a home run and three RBIs Friday, yet still priced below $3K.
  • Kyle Tucker, Dodgers, $4,000: not a punt, but still underpriced for this lineup and matchup after a grand slam Friday night.

Other GPP stacks

Yankees: Judge ($6,100), Cody Bellinger ($4,800), Paul Goldschmidt ($3,000) and Spencer Jones ($3,600). Thornton’s struggles against right-handed bats make this a strong alternative to Detroit.

Padres: Tatis ($6,500), Manny Machado ($5,500), Xander Bogaerts ($4,300) and Samad Taylor ($3,800). Perdomo has been excellent in a tiny sample, but San Diego has enough right-handed power to test him immediately.

Red Sox: Wilyer Abreu ($5,600), Jarren Duran ($4,400), Adley Rutschman ($3,900) and Trevor Story ($3,300). Randy Dobnak has only a 6.1 K/9, so Boston can put pressure on him with balls in play at Fenway.

How we are building

Our default path is Glasnow + Alvarez at pitcher, then a four- or five-man Tigers stack. Judge is the first expensive one-off we add. If that build gets too tight, Keith, Clark and Beavers are the salary pieces we want before sacrificing the pitching ceiling.
