TNF Best Bets: Buccaneers vs Cowboys, Player Props, Parlay and First TD Pick | October 8, 2026
Four Buccaneers-Cowboys Thursday Night Football betting angles, a same-game parlay and a first-touchdown longshot.

Our Buccaneers-Cowboys best bets for Thursday, October 8 start with receiving volume, not a bet that Dallas repeats last week’s late-game fireworks. Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. ET. Baker Mayfield is out and Jalon Daniels makes his second start, while CeeDee Lamb has no game-status designation on the official injury report.
We prefer the individual props to loading every Dallas outcome into one ticket. A Cowboys win, a Lamb yardage over and a Dallas rushing touchdown are different bets, even when they fit the same broad game story.
Our four best bets
1. Bucky Irving over 51.5 rushing yards (-115)
Irving has carried at least 15 times in three consecutive games. At that workload, he needs roughly 3.5 yards per carry to clear this number. That is a more useful case than assuming Tampa Bay must win for its running back to deliver. Dallas has allowed 150.3 rushing yards per game, although that team total includes quarterback runs.
Daniels’ scrambling can compete with Irving for rushing production, and an early multi-score deficit would threaten the carry count. We still prefer this threshold to an aggressive alternate rushing line. Our limit: 54.5 yards at -115 or better. The listed 51.5-yard price is published on Fantrax’s TNF prop board; it is a reported market quote, not a book-specific offer.
2. CeeDee Lamb over 80.5 receiving yards (-115)
Lamb has 37 catches for 498 yards through four games, including 17 for 189 against Houston. We are not expecting another 17-catch game. The appeal is that he can clear 80.5 with a much more ordinary six- or seven-catch performance if Dallas keeps its best receiver involved downfield.
Tampa Bay is missing safety Antoine Winfield Jr. and cornerback Benjamin Morrison. Those absences strengthen the matchup, but a Dallas lead built through rushing touchdowns remains the clearest route to a disappointing receiving total. Our limit: 84.5 yards at -115 or better. Price reference: Fantrax’s TNF prop board.
3. Cade Otton over 28.5 receiving yards (-108, DraftKings)
This is our favorite low-threshold receiving play. Otton had six targets, four catches and 37 yards in Daniels’ first start. His season averages of 3.8 catches and 39.3 yards also clear what we need here. The DraftKings quote and route data support a bet on regular involvement rather than an unlikely breakout.
The useful distinction is that trailing can help Otton’s reception opportunities even while it hurts Irving’s carries. These two overs do not need an identical game script. Daniels choosing to scramble instead of throwing underneath is the main concern for the tight end. Our limit: 30.5 yards at -115 or better.
4. Dallas Cowboys -8.5 (-112, DraftKings)
This is our lowest-priority straight bet. Prescott gives Dallas the more established passing attack, while Tampa Bay is asking a rookie to manage his second start on a short week. The listed DraftKings spread lets us back that quarterback advantage without laying double digits.
The caution is Dallas’ defense, not its offense. The Cowboys have allowed 28.0 points per game, so a late Tampa Bay score can ruin an otherwise comfortable Dallas win. We would not chase this beyond -9 or pay more than -115. Otton and Lamb remain higher priorities than forcing the favorite into every bet.
Same-game parlay: Dallas through the air
Cowboys -8.5 + Dak Prescott over 1.5 passing touchdowns + Jalon Daniels over 45.5 rushing yards.
Price reference: +355 at DraftKings, quoted by BettingPros. This combination expresses a specific story: Dallas builds its lead through passing touchdowns, and Daniels creates rushing yards while trying to keep Tampa Bay alive. Daniels ran for 55 yards in his first start. A Cowboys win driven by rushing touchdowns can still lose the parlay, so it is not a substitute for the straight-bet card.
We would keep this as a smaller, separate wager. It repeats our Dallas spread exposure, and all three legs must win.
First touchdown longshot: Jake Ferguson +1200
Jake Ferguson to score the game’s first touchdown, +1200 at BetMGM.
Our route is a Dallas opening touchdown created near the goal line, with coverage drawn toward Lamb or a run fake opening space for Ferguson. This does not require Ferguson to lead the team in targets. It does require the Cowboys to score first and their tight end to finish the drive, which is why this belongs in the longshot bucket rather than the core card. We would pass at a materially shorter price than +1200.
Prices vary by sportsbook and location. Bet limits above are our thresholds, not claims of guaranteed availability or outcomes.
