Sunday Night Football Rams vs Broncos DraftKings Showdown Week 3 September 27 2026

Sunday Night Football gives us a DraftKings Showdown between the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos with a tight spread and one major injury variable. Puka Nacua is doubtful after missing practice all week. This board is built for the likely scenario that he is inactive. If Nacua is active, the Rams target tree and value tier change materially.

Captain costs 1.5x salary and scores 1.5x fantasy points, so we are balancing raw ceiling with what the Captain salary allows us to build. Davante Adams is our favorite raw-ceiling Captain, Jaylen Waddle is our preferred Denver Captain, Terrance Ferguson is the salary unlock, and Kyren Williams is our favorite way to bet against a Stafford-led passing eruption.

Game setup

The Rams are a small road favorite and the total is in the mid-40s. Three-three and four-two roster splits are our default. Los Angeles has concentrated receiving opportunity if Nacua sits. Adams drew 10 targets last week for 195 yards and two touchdowns, while Ferguson drew nine targets and scored. Denver gets both J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey back, making the backfield less concentrated. Waddle enters after an eight-catch, 138-yard Week 2 on 10 targets.

Favorite Captain options

Davante Adams, CPT $15,300 | FLEX $10,200

Our No. 1 raw-ceiling Captain. Nacua’s likely absence leaves Adams as Stafford’s alpha target. Denver’s secondary is a tougher matchup, but Adams can break the slate through volume, touchdowns or one explosive play. The restrictive Captain salary means we need at least one value FLEX.

Jaylen Waddle, CPT $14,400 | FLEX $9,600

Our favorite Denver Captain. His Week 2 target spike was accompanied by 138 yards, and he has the speed to win Captain without needing double-digit receptions. Waddle Captain should normally include Bo Nix in FLEX.

Terrance Ferguson, CPT $5,700 | FLEX $3,800

The salary-changing Captain. Six catches on nine targets for 54 yards and a touchdown last week gives him a real role, not a punt role. At $5,700 Captain, Ferguson can unlock Stafford, Adams, Waddle and Nix together. He will be popular enough that the rest of the lineup needs differentiation.

Kyren Williams, CPT $12,900 | FLEX $8,600

Our favorite non-receiver Captain. He controls the Rams’ valuable red-zone rushing work, and Denver has struggled against running backs. A two-touchdown Kyren game can win Captain while reducing the need for Stafford and Adams.

Matthew Stafford, CPT $15,600 | FLEX $10,400

Stafford threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns last week. We prefer him in FLEX because he adds almost nothing rushing. A Captain-winning Stafford result usually requires several passing touchdowns spread around enough that no receiver beats his 1.5x score.

Bo Nix, CPT $15,000 | FLEX $10,000

Nix retains rushing upside even though we have barely seen it through two games. The Rams pass rush creates real downside, but a passing-plus-rushing ceiling keeps him in the Captain pool.

CTS Captain ownership projections

These are CTS estimates for large-field DraftKings Showdown contests, not observed ownership. They are built for the likely Nacua inactive scenario and total approximately 100%.

Captain CPT Salary CTS CPT Own.
Davante Adams $15,300 20%
Terrance Ferguson $5,700 16%
Jaylen Waddle $14,400 14%
Matthew Stafford $15,600 13%
Bo Nix $15,000 12%
Kyren Williams $12,900 10%
Courtland Sutton $11,400 4%
RJ Harvey $10,500 3%
J.K. Dobbins $11,100 2%
Blake Corum $9,900 1.5%
All others Varies 4.5%

Adams is our projected Captain leader. Ferguson is the player most likely to reshape roster construction because of his salary. Waddle is our favorite combination of ceiling and relative Captain leverage. Kyren is our preferred Captain when deliberately betting against the Rams passing game.

Flex core

Matthew Stafford, $10,400

Preferred in FLEX. Nacua’s likely absence concentrates the passing tree.

Bo Nix, $10,000

Quarterback volume is difficult to replace in Showdown. Balanced builds should decide early whether they can afford one or both QBs.

Davante Adams, $10,200

Core even when he is not Captain. The target ceiling is the best on the Rams.

Jaylen Waddle, $9,600

Denver’s best receiving ceiling and our preferred Nix partner.

Kyren Williams, $8,600

Touchdown access plus a game script that can succeed without Stafford throwing three scores.

Terrance Ferguson, $3,800

The best salary-adjusted core piece. Nine targets last week gives him a role-based case.

GPP and leverage plays

Blake Corum, $6,600

Denver has been vulnerable on the ground. Corum is best used as a Kyren pivot or alongside him in a Rams-control script where the passing game underperforms.

RJ Harvey, $7,000

Harvey returns and offers more receiving appeal than Dobbins. The uncertain touch split should keep his tournament profile volatile.

Courtland Sutton, $7,600

Waddle’s breakout should pull attention away from Sutton. One red-zone touchdown plus one explosive catch can beat this salary.

Pat Bryant, $5,600

Six Week 1 targets followed by almost nothing in Week 2 creates uncertainty and low ownership. Best in Nix Captain or Waddle-fade builds.

Konata Mumpfield, $2,000

Our favorite true Rams salary saver. He played roughly 70% of the snaps last week with Nacua out but saw only two targets. At $2,000, one touchdown can be enough.

Nate Adkins, $1,600

The Denver moon shot. He caught all three Week 2 targets and added a rushing touchdown. At $1,600 he unlocks multiple premium FLEX plays.

Tutu Atwell, $2,200

Low-volume and high-variance. At $2,200, one deep touchdown can put him into the winning lineup.

Lineup construction

3-3 is the default

The tight spread makes three Rams and three Broncos the cleanest neutral build.

4-2 is our favorite GPP structure

It gives enough concentration to tell a game story without requiring a blowout. Adams Captain can support Stafford and Ferguson. Waddle Captain can support Nix plus a secondary Denver piece.

5-1 needs a reason

Use it only when the lineup explicitly bets on one team controlling the game and the opponent concentrating production through one player.

Receiver Captain usually wants the QB

Adams Captain should usually include Stafford. Waddle Captain should usually include Nix.

RB Captain can fade the QB

Kyren Captain is one of the cleanest ways to leave Stafford off. Two Kyren touchdowns can make Stafford merely average.

Leaving salary is allowed

Duplication matters. A coherent lineup leaving $1,000 to $2,500 can be better for a large field than forcing the final dollars into a common combination.

Favorite build scripts

  1. Adams eruption: Adams CPT + Stafford + Ferguson, then Denver led by Waddle or Nix.
  2. Waddle wins Captain: Waddle CPT + Nix + a secondary Denver piece, with Adams or Stafford back.
  3. Rams run game wins: Kyren CPT + Corum or Rams DST, with Denver pass catchers. Stafford is optional.
  4. Ferguson salary unlock: Ferguson CPT + Stafford + Adams + Waddle + Nix, then one differentiated value.
  5. Denver passing upset: Nix CPT + Waddle + Sutton or Bryant, with Adams as the preferred Rams return.
  6. Ugly game: one quarterback, a running back Captain, and kickers or defenses in FLEX.

CTS final core

Captain pool: Adams $15,300, Waddle $14,400, Ferguson $5,700, Kyren $12,900, Stafford $15,600, Nix $15,000.

Favorite GPP FLEX: Harvey $7,000, Corum $6,600, Sutton $7,600, Mumpfield $2,000, Atwell $2,200, Adkins $1,600.
