NFL Week 8 SNF Bets: Eagles vs. Commanders
Eagles +6.5, Dallas Goedert receptions and Stefon Diggs catches lead our SNF card, with Goedert the smaller-stake touchdown choice.

Our Eagles-Commanders card starts with Philadelphia plus the points, Dallas Goedert receptions and Stefon Diggs to catch four passes. Goedert is also our touchdown choice, with receptions the stronger of his two plays. The Eagles’ missing receivers matter, but so does the number: Washington is being asked to win by a touchdown against a Philadelphia offense that has been effective once it reaches the red zone.

Sunday Night Football best bets
- Philadelphia Eagles +6.5
- Dallas Goedert over 4.5 receptions, our favorite prop
- Stefon Diggs 4+ receptions
- Dallas Goedert anytime touchdown, smaller-stake selection
Eagles +6.5
Philadelphia does not need to solve every offensive problem to cover this spread. The Eagles have scored touchdowns on 14 of 19 red-zone possessions. Washington has allowed touchdowns on 81.8% of opponents’ red-zone trips. Those figures favor Philadelphia finishing a limited number of productive drives rather than needing to control the entire game. Philadelphia’s November 1 preview provides both figures.
Saquon Barkley also has no game designation after returning to practice Friday. His availability gives Philadelphia a scoring route beyond Tanner McKee throwing to a depleted receiver group. That does not erase the workload concern after Barkley’s hamstring and back limited him against Dallas. The Eagles’ final report confirms the distinction.
Washington will be without defensive tackles Javon Kinlaw, Jer’Zhan Newton and Daron Payne. Those absences strengthen Philadelphia’s rushing matchup and the case for taking the points, even with the Eagles short-handed at receiver. The NFL injury report lists all three out.
The case against this pick is substantial: DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks are out, and McKee has thrown one touchdown in each of his two starts. Washington’s 43.9% blitz rate can put pressure on an offense still trying to establish consistency. We are taking the cushion, not declaring Philadelphia the better team.
Our number is +6.5, listed at DraftKings in AgentBets’ November 1, 1 p.m. UTC comparison. We would not treat the +5.5 available elsewhere as the same bet.
Stefon Diggs 4+ receptions
Diggs has caught at least four passes in each of his five appearances: four, five, four, five and six. He has drawn 38 targets across those games. Four catches is a cleaner fit for that usage than asking a short-area receiver to produce a long reception or a touchdown.
McLaurin’s absence does not mean we can assign all of his targets to Diggs. Washington has specifically discussed a bigger role for Antonio Williams. Our Diggs pick rests on the role he already has, not an invented target windfall. The team’s receiver discussion explains that division of opportunity.
Diggs has no game designation after finishing the practice week with full participation. A Washington lead that leans heavily on Daniels and the running backs is the clearest way his target count disappoints.
DraftKings Network’s current player-prop board lists Diggs 4+ receptions for this November 1 game.
Dallas Goedert over 4.5 receptions
Goedert has caught six, six and five passes in his last three games, drawing 24 targets in that span. The more relevant quarterback sample is his two games with Tanner McKee: 11 catches on 15 targets. That is why receptions are our preferred Goedert market.
Smith and Wicks are out again, leaving Goedert and Makai Lemon as the most convincing volume options in Philadelphia’s passing game. Washington’s frequent blitzing gives McKee a reason to find an accessible target quickly, although pressure can also end a drive before it produces enough completions. Barkley returning to a larger workload is another way this passing volume could shrink.
The 4.5-reception threshold appears in BetSharp’s Eagles-Commanders market comparison. Our case is the recent target volume and missing receivers, not a claim that three straight clears guarantee a fourth.
Dallas Goedert anytime touchdown
Goedert scored twice in the first meeting with Washington. The more useful current evidence is his 24 targets over the last three games, Philadelphia’s 14 touchdowns on 19 red-zone possessions and Washington’s 81.8% red-zone touchdown rate allowed.
This is the smaller-stake addition, not a substitute for the reception play. Goedert has not scored in his last three appearances, and a productive Philadelphia drive can finish with Barkley rather than a pass. The two Goedert selections are connected exposure to the same player, not two independent edges.
Goedert appears in BetMGM’s October 31 anytime-touchdown market table for this game. We prefer the ordinary anytime market to adding the requirement that he score first.
