Cover The Slate NFL WEEK 8 SHOWDOWN DFS: NFL Week 8 TNF DFS: Panthers vs Packers DraftKings Showdown Picks

Josh Jacobs at $8,800 is my first FLEX priority. Tetairoa McMillan at $14,100 Captain is my preferred tournament starting point, paired with Bryce Young at $9,600. That combination attacks a different outcome from the obvious Christian Watson-led Green Bay build without relying on a minimum-salary player to find the field. Jalen Coker offers the cheaper receiving Captain alternative at $11,700. The biggest decision is Matthew Golden: he remains questionable, and his availability changes both Green Bay’s receiving options and the salary combinations worth pursuing.

This is the full-game DraftKings Showdown slate for Carolina at Green Bay on Thursday, October 29, 2026, kicking off at 8:15 p.m. ET. Season statistics below run through Week 7, with six games for Carolina and seven for Green Bay. Official game information

Overall game script

I want exposure to both passing games, but I would not force both quarterbacks into every lineup. Through Week 7, Green Bay had called passes on 66.9% of its offensive plays, including 70.8% in Jacobs’ return. Carolina’s depleted cornerback group gives Love and his receivers a clear ceiling case. The complication is protection: both offenses enter this game with important offensive-line absences. A passing-friendly matchup can still produce stalled possessions. Carolina’s matchup preview

The Carolina passing stack is the more interesting tournament decision. Last week’s 43-13 loss reduced the starters’ playing time, with Young playing 43 of 56 offensive snaps before Kenny Pickett finished. I am not treating the lower full-game snap percentages for McMillan, Coker and Hubbard as a newly established reduced role. The more relevant question is whether Carolina protects Young well enough to sustain drives against Green Bay’s coverage. Week 7 participation report

There is no weather-based reason in the Thursday-morning forecast to abandon the passing games. The National Weather Service calls for mostly clear conditions Thursday night with northwest winds of 5 to 7 mph. The overnight low is not a kickoff temperature, and the forecast should still be revisited before lock. Green Bay forecast

Captain choices

Josh Jacobs: the strongest salary-adjusted starting point

$8,800 FLEX, $13,200 Captain. Jacobs’ first game back brought 11 carries and seven targets. Five catches, 55 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown demonstrated why he can succeed alongside Love rather than only in a run-heavy Packers win. Lloyd still had six carries and two catches, so I am building around a lead back with competition, not assuming Jacobs immediately owns the entire backfield. Official Week 7 gamebook

Our conditional estimate is 18.38 DraftKings points in FLEX, or 27.57 at Captain. At roughly 10% projected Captain ownership, Jacobs is a serious alternative to the quarterbacks and Watson. Carolina’s poor rushing performance last week is an attraction, but Green Bay’s missing linemen and Jacobs’ one-game sample are the reasons to resist a workload leap. I prefer him in FLEX when captaining a receiver. At Captain, Love fits best when the story includes Jacobs contributing through the air; a rushing-touchdown-heavy version can leave Love out.

Jordan Love and Chuba Hubbard: the steadier role choices

Love: $10,000 FLEX, $15,000 Captain. He is the straightforward quarterback Captain when Green Bay’s touchdowns are distributed among multiple receivers. Pair him with two receiving options in that version, with Jacobs eligible to fill one of those roles. At approximately 15% Captain ownership and 50% FLEX ownership, Love is a core piece rather than a way to be different. Watson absorbing most of the passing scores is the obvious way a Love Captain lineup loses ground.

Hubbard: $9,000 FLEX, $13,500 Captain. Carolina’s six-game totals give him 96 carries, 459 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns, plus 15 catches and two receiving scores. That is a broader role than last week’s seven carries suggest. Hubbard is my preferred Carolina-control Captain, especially when leaving out Young and expecting the rushing scores to land here. His receiving work also makes him usable with Young in a more competitive game. The missing offensive linemen are a real concern for both versions. Panthers season statistics

Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker: my tournament alternatives

McMillan: $9,400 FLEX, $14,100 Captain. His 36 receptions and 511 yards lead Carolina through six games. I prefer him to Watson at Captain in the Carolina passing build: he saves $600 in that slot and carries an early Captain estimate around 11%, compared with Watson’s 14%. That is a modest ownership difference, not a claim that McMillan will be overlooked. Pair him with Young, then decide which Green Bay production the lineup needs to keep the game moving. Carolina receiving totals

Coker: $7,800 FLEX, $11,700 Captain. Coker saves $2,400 against McMillan at Captain and is closer to 6% in our early Captain estimates. He has no game designation on the final injury report after estimated full participation Tuesday and Wednesday. He is my preferred salary-saving Captain among the established receivers. The savings should buy another strong role, not become an excuse to roster several weak punts. His failure case is straightforward: McMillan commands the important targets and Coker’s lower salary never compensates for the scoring gap. Final injury report

Christian Watson: the strongest Green Bay receiving ceiling

$9,800 FLEX, $14,700 Captain. Watson has 595 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 34 catches through seven games. He is my first Green Bay receiver Captain when the offense wins through explosive plays, normally with Love in FLEX. The early estimates put him near 42% FLEX ownership and 14% Captain ownership, so the supporting construction matters more than pretending Watson himself is contrarian. Packers receiving totals

If Golden sits, Watson becomes an even more obvious place for the field to go. That strengthens the attention case, but it does not tell us how many extra targets he gets. Jacobs-led scoring, a Kraft touchdown or a Carolina receiver Captain are more coherent ways to oppose that build than selecting an unrelated cheap receiver.

Core FLEX plays and the midrange decision

Bryce Young, $9,600: he belongs with McMillan or Coker Captain. A Young Captain build works better when Carolina spreads its passing production rather than concentrating it in one receiver. Do not buy an assumed rushing floor: his six-game totals are only 10 carries for 34 yards. He and Love are both projected for around half of FLEX lineups, which makes leaving one out a meaningful construction decision. Young’s season totals

Matthew Golden, $8,400: the opportunity is worth respecting if he plays his expected role. He drew 12 targets against Detroit, compared with eight for Watson, and costs $1,400 less in FLEX. Our 14.48-point estimate and roughly 31% FLEX ownership estimate assume that expected-role scenario. They do not include a probability that he plays or establish that his shoulder and foot will allow a normal workload. A limited version is a different play. Week 7 targets

Tucker Kraft, $7,400: I prefer Coker for only $400 more when building around Carolina’s passing game. Kraft is the Green Bay touchdown-distribution alternative, especially with Love Captain or when choosing a different receiving scorer from Watson. His 29 catches, 297 yards and two touchdowns through seven games are useful production, but his 9.09-point estimate does not make him an automatic salary value. Packers statistics

Darren Waller, $5,400: his three receiving touchdowns on 14 catches explain the appeal and the risk. Tommy Tremble has 16 catches and costs $2,800 less. I would pay for Waller when specifically pursuing his scoring ceiling, rather than treating his name and last touchdown as evidence of dependable volume. Panthers receiving statistics

Value plays and GPP darts

Tommy Tremble, $2,600, and John Metchie III, $3,400 are my first offensive salary-saving comparisons. Tremble lets a receiver-Captain build keep two quarterbacks and Jacobs. Metchie offers a cheaper Carolina receiver attachment when Coker or McMillan will not fit. Both remain secondary options, so I prefer using one rather than asking several small roles to hit together.

MarShawn Lloyd, $3,800, remains viable after Jacobs’ return because he still participated in the rushing and receiving game. His 6.69-point estimate is consistent with a secondary role. He is a tournament alternative to Jacobs-led scoring, not a presumed starter at a backup salary. Using both backs requires enough Green Bay production for both to matter; it is not my default way to save money.

Savion Williams, $4,400, becomes more interesting if Golden is unavailable or limited. Green Bay’s offensive coordinator said Wednesday he would be comfortable with Williams taking a bigger role. That is useful evidence for the contingency, but it does not establish a full target allocation. At Golden’s expected role, Williams’ 2.03-point estimate leaves me preferring Lloyd, Metchie or the kickers in many builds. Wednesday coordinator comments

Mitchell Evans, $1,600, and Anthony Tyus III, $400, are high-risk salary releases. Carolina’s blowout created late work for reserves, and Tyus played only five offensive snaps. I would not turn those results into a new weekly role. Bo Melton ($1,000), J. Michael Sturdivant ($800), Coleman Owen ($200) and Mark Redman ($200) also need a specific role case. A place on the roster or return unit alone does not give them a reliable receiving floor. Carolina’s Week 7 usage · Green Bay depth chart

Kickers and defenses

Trey Smack, $5,000, and Ryan Fitzgerald, $4,800, offer established kicking roles at salaries below Waller. Fitzgerald has no game designation following Wednesday’s illness listing. Smack remains Green Bay’s kicker, with the special teams coordinator expressing confidence in him Wednesday. Lenny Krieg also appears at $5,000 in the DraftKings pool, but he is on the practice squad/international list and should not be treated as interchangeable with Smack. Fitzgerald update · Smack update · Packers roster

Packers DST, $4,000, is my preferred defense for a protection-breakdown script. Green Bay had nine interceptions through Week 7, and Carolina is missing important blockers. Panthers DST ($3,600) is the cheaper pressure-and-turnover alternative against Green Bay’s reshuffled line. Both can score without shutting the opponent out, but I would not combine a defense with a Captain and several pass catchers from the opposing offense by default. Kickers fit stalled drives; defenses need sacks, turnovers or a score. Neither needs to be forced into a passing shootout build. Matchup context

Projected points and Captain and FLEX ownership

These are early CTS point and ownership estimates for large-field DraftKings tournaments, not actual contest ownership. They assume players are active on game day and play their expected roles. Golden’s estimates assume that expected role if he is active. Points are shown for FLEX; Captain scores 1.5 times as many points. Captain and FLEX ownership are shown separately.

Injury branches and players to remove

  • Golden plays his expected role: keep all three main Green Bay receiving options in consideration. Golden’s discount is useful, and Watson still has the clearer touchdown-driven ceiling.
  • Golden is active with a reported limitation: do not use the full-role row unchanged. Prefer established alternatives over guessing at a reduced target count.
  • Golden is inactive: remove him and rebuild the whole lineup. Watson, Kraft and Williams warrant renewed consideration, but no one inherits every missing target. Melton and Sturdivant remain conditional darts until there is stronger role information.
  • Protection and defense: Green Bay has ruled out Sean Rhyan, Travis Glover and Zaire Franklin. Carolina has ruled out Damien Lewis, Torricelli Simpkins III, Akayleb Evans and Jaelan Phillips. Those absences affect the lineups on both sides of the ball; they do not justify a blanket upgrade to every skill player.

Young, Coker and Fitzgerald have no final game designation. Golden is questionable, as are Green Bay defenders Devonte Wyatt, Anthony Campbell and Brenton Cox Jr. and Carolina defensive tackle Bobby Brown III. This week’s practice participation was estimated from walkthroughs or a non-practice day. Final game-day inactives still matter. Official final injury report

Do not use the $200 salaries to talk yourself into unavailable players. Jayden Reed, Skyy Moore, Chris Brooks, Jonathon Brooks, Chris Brazzell II and Xavier Legette are on injured reserve; Luke Musgrave is on reserve/PUP. Josh Whyle and Ja’Tavion Sanders are on their teams’ active rosters, but that does not guarantee a game-day role, and their N/A estimates are not an assertion that they are injured. Confirm any practice-squad elevation and then check the inactive list before considering those players. Packers roster · Panthers roster

Lineup construction and a salary-checked example

DraftKings full-game Showdown uses one Captain and five FLEX spots, a $50,000 salary cap and players from both teams. A Captain costs and scores 1.5 times the FLEX amount. DraftKings Showdown rules

My preferred tournament example uses McMillan Captain with Young, then brings back Love and Jacobs. It leaves out Watson and avoids depending on Golden’s availability. The bet on the game is specific: Carolina produces enough through McMillan to justify the multiplier, while Green Bay’s scoring is distributed rather than dominated by Watson.

Slot Player Team Salary
CPT Tetairoa McMillan CAR $14,100
FLEX Bryce Young CAR $9,600
FLEX Jordan Love GB $10,000
FLEX Josh Jacobs GB $8,800
FLEX Ryan Fitzgerald CAR $4,800
FLEX Tommy Tremble CAR $2,600

Total salary: $49,900. Remaining salary: $100. This is an illustrative four-Panther, two-Packer construction, not an optimized lineup or a prediction of the winning roster. Tremble is the fragile offensive slot. Fitzgerald supplies a different scoring path, but Carolina needs enough productive possessions to support both its receiving stack and its kicker.

For a Packers-led alternative, move the Captain to Watson, replace Young with Hubbard and retain Love, Jacobs, Fitzgerald and Tremble. That also costs $49,900, with a balanced three-player split from each team. It keeps the same salary discipline while making a different decision about where the passing touchdowns concentrate.

I would rather make that complete change than keep an expensive Captain and add a $200 player solely to finish the roster. Use the injury news to revise the game story, then check all six players again before the 8:15 p.m. ET lock.
