College Football DFS Picks Today: DraftKings Week 2 Main Slate for Sept. 12
DraftKings college football DFS picks for Saturday's 12-game Week 2 main slate, including quarterbacks, running backs, receivers and our favorite game stacks.

Saturday, September 12, 2026. DraftKings’ Week 2 main slate gives us 12 games starting at noon ET. The biggest mistake this week is treating every Week 1 box score like a new depth chart. Several openers were lopsided enough to distort volume, target share and quarterback production.
- Quarterbacks
- Top ceiling: Marcel Reed, Texas A&M — $8,700
- Best value: Steve Angeli, Syracuse — $6,000
- GPP quarterback: Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, California — $7,100
- Running backs
- Top spend: Nate Sheppard, Duke — $8,200
- Mid-range priority: Darius Taylor, Minnesota — $7,800
- GPP value: Duke Watson, UCF — $4,800

We are using Week 1 to identify roles, not blindly project the same efficiency. That pushes us toward quarterbacks with multiple paths to ceiling, running backs with real workload evidence and receivers whose target share looks structural rather than fluky.
Quarterbacks
Top ceiling: Marcel Reed, Texas A&M — $8,700
Reed did not need to carry Texas A&M in the opener. That is a feature, not a concern. Arizona State is a much more credible opponent, and a competitive game gives Reed the full dual-threat workload that makes him so dangerous on DraftKings.
We are paying for rushing equity and a game where the Aggies should need their starting quarterback for four quarters, not chasing a Week 1 fantasy total.
Best value: Steve Angeli, Syracuse — $6,000
Angeli is the salary-release valve we like most. The Cal-Syracuse game has enough scoring potential for a value quarterback to get there through volume alone, and Angeli showed in the opener that the Achilles injury is not preventing him from operating the offense.
At $6K, he does not need to be the best quarterback on the slate. He simply needs to keep pace with a game environment that should stay competitive.
GPP quarterback: Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, California — $7,100
JKS is our tournament quarterback because the end of last week’s game is likely to push some people away. We would rather buy the talent and likely passing volume at a lower confidence point than pay for a quarterback whose Week 1 stat line was created in a blowout.
The Syracuse matchup keeps the bring-back options obvious, making this one of our favorite game stacks.
Running backs
Top spend: Nate Sheppard, Duke — $8,200
We are not projecting another 35 carries and 227 yards. We are taking the 35 carries as proof that Duke is willing to make Sheppard the offense. That kind of role is difficult to find on a college slate.
Illinois is a tougher opponent, which is why this is about workload rather than chasing efficiency. Sheppard can get there through touches even if the yards per carry come back to earth.
Mid-range priority: Darius Taylor, Minnesota — $7,800
Taylor gives us a veteran bell-cow profile in a game where Minnesota is essentially a pick’em at home. Mississippi State’s Week 1 offensive explosion should help keep the game competitive enough for Taylor to stay involved deep into the second half.
GPP value: Duke Watson, UCF — $4,800
Watson is not a cash-game lock because the role is not as secure as the expensive backs. That is exactly why he works in tournaments. At $4,800, we are buying efficiency and touchdown upside without needing 20 touches.
Wide receivers
- Ryan Coleman-Williams, Alabama — $7,900: the clearest alpha target profile in Alabama’s passing game.
- Umari Hatcher, Syracuse — $6,200: ten Week 1 targets and an easy pairing with Angeli.
- Koby Howard, Penn State — $4,800: strong target involvement and big-play production at a mid-tier price.
- Giovanni Richardson, Arizona — $3,000: salary-saving tournament punt if his starting role holds.
Favorite stack: Cal-Syracuse
This is our favorite game stack because both sides give us affordable pieces and the matchup should remain competitive. The cleanest Syracuse build is Steve Angeli ($6,000) + Umari Hatcher ($6,200). On the Cal side, Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele ($7,100) can be paired with Ian Strong ($5,700) or used as the bring-back quarterback in multi-entry builds.
We do not need to force four players from the same game. A two-man quarterback-receiver stack with one bring-back is enough to capture the correlation.
GPP stacks
Oregon: Dante Moore ($8,900) with one or two Ducks pass-catchers is expensive but carries blow-up potential against Oklahoma State.
Pittsburgh: Mason Heintschel ($7,600) with Ja’Kyrian Turner ($7,900) is a different way to attack a high-scoring Pitt offense without blindly chasing Heintschel’s Week 1 touchdown total.
Alabama: Keelon Russell with Ryan Coleman-Williams ($7,900) is a cleaner tournament mini-stack than trying to guess which secondary Alabama skill player scores.
