College Football Best Bets | October 3, 2026

Saturday gives us a deep board, but we are not trying to bet every ranked team on the screen. The card is built around numbers where matchup, form and game script line up cleanly.

CTS Best Bets

BEST BET

Alabama -6 at Mississippi State

Mississippi State has earned respect, especially with Kamario Taylor creating explosive plays, but Alabama still owns the more complete profile. Keelon Russell is coming off another high-end performance and the Crimson Tide have multiple ways to create separation.

CTS angle: Alabama’s pressure against Taylor is the swing point. If it limits the extended plays that drive Mississippi State’s ceiling, we have room to win by multiple scores.

SPREAD

Florida -5.5 at Missouri

Florida can lean on Jadan Baugh without becoming one-dimensional. Missouri can answer through Austin Simmons, but Florida has the stronger path to controlling the line and forcing obvious passing situations.

CTS angle: We want Florida while the number remains below six.

SPREAD

Notre Dame -21.5 at North Carolina

This is a big number, but Notre Dame’s defense gives North Carolina very little room for a clean offensive script. The Irish have shown they can create margin without needing a shootout.

CTS angle: Defensive control, short fields and four-quarter depth give the favorite multiple paths to cover.

SPREAD

Ohio State -14 at Iowa

Kinnick is never our favorite place to lay points and Iowa’s defense is legitimate. The difference is Ohio State can create chunk plays without needing a perfect possession. Jeremiah Smith gives the Buckeyes a ceiling Iowa has not had to match often.

CTS angle: We are betting explosiveness to eventually crack a game Iowa wants to keep ugly.

TOTAL

Alabama-Mississippi State Over 60.5

Both quarterbacks can create after the initial play breaks down. Alabama can do a large share of the scoring itself, while Taylor gives Mississippi State a path to enough explosive responses to keep the total moving.

CTS angle: A competitive first half is ideal, but the over can survive Alabama separating later.

TOTAL

Michigan-Minnesota Under 43.5

We expect possessions to matter, explosive plays to be limited and both teams to be comfortable letting defense and field position dictate the afternoon.

CTS angle: A slow first half, stalled red-zone trips or either team playing from ahead all help.

SPREAD

Texas Tech -11.5 at Colorado

Texas Tech brings the more stable offense and enters with a cleaner trajectory. Colorado’s quarterback uncertainty makes it harder to trust the Buffaloes to trade scores if Tech gets ahead.

CTS angle: We prefer the current number under 12.

NIGHT TOTAL

Washington-USC Over 58.5

This is our favorite late-game environment. USC has enough firepower to push the pace, but its defense has also shown it can give points back. Demond Williams Jr. can punish coverage with his legs and turn broken plays into first downs.

CTS angle: Both offenses have realistic paths into the high 20s or better.

Saturday Parlay

Florida ML + Tennessee ML + BYU ML

This is intentionally separate from simply stacking our spread picks. We are using moneylines on three teams we want to survive rather than forcing extra margin into a parlay.

CTS Card

Top two: Alabama -6 and Washington-USC Over 58.5. Favorite high-variance side: Ohio State -14, because Iowa can make it uncomfortable before Ohio State’s explosive-play advantage has a chance to show.
