NFL Week 1 Best Bets: 4 Picks + Our Sunday Alt-Line Parlay

Sunday, September 13, 2026. Week 1 gives us more uncertainty than any normal NFL Sunday, so we are not trying to manufacture action on every game. Four bets cleared our bar tonight, and the card leans into the spots where the number, matchup and early-season context all line up.

• Vikings -1.5 (-110) vs. Packers

Bills-Texans Under 44.5 (-108)

This is our favorite total on the board. Houston has repeatedly made Josh Allen work in this building, and last season the Texans sacked him eight times in a 23-19 win. The larger trend matters too: Texans games are 33-18 to the Under under DeMeco Ryans.

Buffalo can still move the ball, but Houston is built to force longer drives instead of easy explosives. On the other side, the Texans are breaking in an overhauled offensive line against a Buffalo defense that should be able to create enough negative plays to keep the game from turning into a shootout.

CTS play: Under 44.5. We would still play 44.

Buccaneers-Bengals Under 50.5 (-110)

This looks uncomfortable because both offenses have real ceiling, which is exactly why the total is above 50. We are betting against Week 1 offensive efficiency being perfect on the first Sunday of the season.

Cincinnati made real defensive upgrades after finishing near the bottom of the league last year, while Tampa Bay reworked the middle of its defense and gets Calijah Kancey back. Joe Burrow and Baker Mayfield also played very little preseason football. Since 2022, Week 1 Unders have hit at a massive rate, and this is the kind of inflated opening-week total where that matters.

CTS play: Under 50.5. We still like 50, but would pass if the market drops to 49.5.

Jets +1.5 (-110) at Titans

In a game with a 38.5-point total, getting points matters more than usual. We also like the best offensive player in this matchup wearing green. Breece Hall practiced fully after the groin issue, and the Jets have indicated they plan to use him normally.

Tennessee deserves respect at home, but this number is essentially asking us to pick a winner. New York has enough defensive talent to keep the game tight, and Hall plus Garrett Wilson give the Jets a cleaner path to creating one or two explosive plays in a game where neither offense is projected to have many possessions to waste.

CTS play: Jets +1.5. We want +1 or better, and we also like the plus-money moneyline as a smaller play.

Vikings -1.5 (-110) vs. Packers

This is the side that improved the most for us as the week developed. Green Bay opened as a favorite in this matchup and is now an underdog. That flip makes sense. Josh Jacobs is unavailable, Green Bay has questions along the offensive line, and Minnesota enters the opener with a much cleaner injury report.

Brian Flores can make life miserable for an offense trying to solve new backfield roles and protection questions on the road. We do not need Kyler Murray to be spectacular in his Vikings debut. At this number, Minnesota just needs to win a divisional home game.

CTS play: Vikings -1.5. We would still play -2.5.

CTS alt-line parlay

• Steelers moneyline vs. Falcons
• Jaguars -2.5 alt spread vs. Browns
• Lions -2.5 alt spread vs. Saints
• Chargers -3.5 alt spread vs. Cardinals

We do not want to lay Pittsburgh’s full number after the market reacted to Atlanta starting Cooper Rush. The same idea applies to Jacksonville, Detroit and Los Angeles. All four teams have meaningful matchup advantages, but instead of asking each one to cover a big spread, we are buying the number down and tying the outcomes together.

This is the kind of parlay we prefer when we want upside without needing four perfect blowouts. The exact combined price depends on the alternate-line menu at your book, so the structure matters more than forcing a specific payout.

Lines were checked Saturday night. If one of these numbers moves through the playable threshold above, treat it as a different bet rather than chasing the old price.
